Description

This homemade Slap Ya Mama hot sauce delivers a bold Cajun kick with the perfect balance of heat, tang, and depth. Made with fresh chili peppers, garlic, and Slap Ya Mama seasoning, this rich, fiery sauce enhances everything from grilled meats to seafood and burgers. Unlike store-bought versions, this homemade recipe allows you to adjust the spice level, ensuring a custom heat experience that’s both flavorful and addictive.

Ingredients

Scale

Base Ingredients:

  • 1 ½ cups fresh cayenne or habanero peppers, stems removed
  • 1 cup white vinegar (or apple cider vinegar for a sweeter tang)
  • 4 cloves garlic, peeled and minced
  • 1 tablespoon Slap Ya Mama Cajun seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon sugar (optional, to balance heat)

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Ingredients

  1. Rinse the chili peppers thoroughly under running water.
  2. Remove stems and slice the peppers. If you want less heat, remove some seeds.
  3. Mince the garlic for even distribution of flavor.

Step 2: Cook the Peppers

  1. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the peppers, garlic, and vinegar.
  2. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer and cook for 10–15 minutes, stirring occasionally until the peppers soften.

Step 3: Blend Until Smooth

  1. Carefully transfer the mixture to a blender.
  2. Add Slap Ya Mama seasoning, smoked paprika, onion powder, salt, and sugar.
  3. Blend until completely smooth. If the sauce is too thick, add a little more vinegar or water.

Step 4: Strain for a Silky Texture (Optional)

  1. Pour the blended sauce through a fine-mesh sieve into a bowl, pressing with a spoon to remove any solids.

Step 5: Bottle and Store

  1. Pour the strained sauce into a sterilized glass jar or bottle.
  2. Let it cool completely before sealing.
  3. Store in the refrigerator for up to 6 months.

Notes

  • For a milder version, use red jalapeños instead of habaneros.
  • Adding a teaspoon of honey can soften the spice level.
  • Letting the sauce sit for 24 hours before using enhances its flavor.
  • This sauce works great as a marinade, dip, or drizzle over grilled meats and seafood.
