Ingredients
Scale
Main Ingredients:
- 6 oz (170g) dark chocolate (70% or higher), finely chopped
- ¼ cup (56g) unsalted butter (or coconut oil for a dairy-free option)
- ¼ cup (60ml) maple syrup or honey (or a sugar-free sweetener for keto)
- ¼ cup (20g) unsweetened cocoa powder, sifted
- ½ cup (120ml) heavy cream (or full-fat coconut cream for dairy-free)
- 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
- ⅛ tsp sea salt
Instructions
Step 1: Melt the Chocolate
- In a heatproof bowl, combine the chopped dark chocolate and butter.
- Place the bowl over a simmering pot of water (double boiler method) and stir occasionally until melted and smooth.
Step 2: Add Cocoa & Sweetener
- Remove the bowl from heat and whisk in the cocoa powder until fully incorporated.
- Stir in the maple syrup (or sweetener), mixing well to dissolve completely.
Step 3: Incorporate the Cream & Flavorings
- Slowly pour in the heavy cream while whisking constantly to create a silky texture.
- Add the vanilla extract and sea salt, stirring until smooth and well combined.
Step 4: Adjust Consistency & Serve
- If the sauce is too thick, add a tablespoon of warm milk or cream and stir until desired consistency is reached.
- Let it cool slightly before drizzling over desserts or transferring to a jar for storage.
